There is another solution as well, that you purchase a wired Xbox 360 / Xbox one controller if you want to play games on a PC with an Xbox controller without using the dongle. The wired controller is designed in a way and has the capability to work with a PC.
Though the wired Xbox controllers are usually made by china and third party companies and not officially by Microsoft. But they work well with the consoles and gets the job done.
